Removing Toolbars

Toolbar is a common GUI component that consists a permanently row of visible button or icons. These icons when clicked with the mouse, enables the program to do some action like printing document or changing the operation mode. They may also invoke activities that are through menus. Some toolbars allow their users to customize the accessible functions through toolbars; while others are fixed by the programmer. A toolbar called global toolbar is by default displayed in all windows. Another toolbar called form-specific toolbar is displayed in the form in which it is defined. The position and visibility of different toolbars can be set and controlled using window style attribute.
A famous toolbar, known as the Adware toolbar is a browser toolbar that observes and records the surfing activity and searching queries of the users. Most adware toolbars install without the prior knowledge of the user. They have the ability to resist if the users try to remove them. They are not even detected by anti-virus software because they are not viruses and firewalls. However, anti-Spyware programs can be used to remove adware toolbars.
To disable or remove toolbars, the following steps can be followed:
• Open the browser and click View > Toolbars.
• Now uncheck the toolbar name and it will be disabled.
To uninstall the toolbar from the browser, follow the steps given below:
• Click the down arrow visible next to the Toolbar's wrench icon.
• Now select Uninstall from the drop-down menu given and press Uninstall.
But some toolbars keep on working if they are hidden or disabled. So, the only solution remaining is to remove the unwanted toolbars. This can be done by running an uninstaller downloaded from the web. Otherwise, it can be removed as follows:
• Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
• Now double-click Add/Remove Programs option.
• Search and find the name of the toolbar to be removed.
• Now press Change/Remove.
• Close the browser and refresh the system.
To uninstall or remove toolbar from the Firefox browser, the following steps can be followed:
• Open Firefox and then Tools > Add-ons.
• Select the Toolbar name to be deleted from Firefox.
• Click Uninstall.
Another way to remove toolbars from Firefox is:
• Open Firefox and then Tools > Add-ons.
• Click Extensions menu.
• Search and find the toolbar to be removed In the Extensions Manager window and click the name of the toolbar.
• Now click Uninstall.
• Click OK in the Uninstall Toolbar window.
• At last, exit Extensions Manager and restart the browser.
