It is thus important that the outside of your home looks as good as the inside looks. It is also important to know that the outward appearance of your home tells a lot about the kind of person you are. Well one way you can make the outside of your home look attractive and beautiful is by installing a beautiful fence. There are many fences available on today’s market but however not all of them are that attractive. Well there is one kind of fence that is attractive enough that will definitely give your home that exquisite look. It is a PVC fence. PVC fences are very attractive and they even look like wood fences however with a rather flashy look.
A PVC fence is very easy to install at your home so if you wish you and your family can install it on your own. In actual fact installing this type of fence with your family will be so much fun that you will enjoy so much thus allowing you to bond with your family. The main aim of this article is to give home owners some basic do it yourself instruction on how to install a PVC fence.
When installing a PVCX fence you will require the following tools and equipment. You will require paint that is to be used as a marker, string, saw, tool for digging holes, shovel, spirit level, duct tape, tape measure and cement mortar. Once you have all the material and equipment that is mentioned above you are ready to install your PVC fence. One thing you might have to consider is the placement of your fence this is so for local municipalities in different areas have differing regulations on the distances of fences from the roads, so it is important that you are installing your fence in accordance with your state laws.
There are two ways in which a PVC fence can be installed one is by setting all the poles first and allowing the poles to become firmly established (drying of cement), then followed by putting the sections of the fence. The other method is by putting two poles fist followed by a section of the fence and then another pole and another section of the fence until you are done with the whole fence. The later method is more ideal for persons who have never installed a PVC fence before.
Before you start any thing you have to make sure that the ground where you are going to put up the fence is clear and is free from dangerous things such as electric cables or underground water pipes. If there was a fence before it is important that you dig out all the old polls together with their concrete reinforcements. Once you have done that and all is clear you use the string to form the straight line guide, you must ensure that it is not distorted by any stones or other obstacles. Using your tape measure, go along the string marking after every 95 inch intervals with the marking paint. The points that are marked are the points where you will place the poles. So it is important that your poles are put a distance apart that is equivalent to the length of the rails for if the distance between them is too long you will have to pull out the poles and if it is too short then you will have to cut the rails. Once you have marked the point correctly and they are the size of your rails then you can dig holes of about 10 inches. When you are digging the holes for the poles always ensure that you do not move the string too much as this will result in you making a crooked fence so accuracy is of utmost importance.
Once all the holes have been dug you place the poles in the holes, hold the posts level and put in dirt so that all the poles can be upright but still adjustable. If there are any poles that are standing taller than the others you can dig dipper or you can cut them. All the poles are to be checked if they are in straight line by observing with the string. Once this has been done you then put concrete on all the poles. Make sure that all the poles are firm and straight after that is done you can then cover the concrete with dirt so it does not show. Once you are finished with this step you can allow for the poles to dry and become firmer. So it would be ideal for you to put the panels the next day. The panels are quite easy to install you just slide them in and if they are too long you can use a saw to cut them to size.
PVC fencing has become very popular as it is more resistant to adverse weather, for instance with a wooden fence water tends to cause it to rote and it can be attacked by termites. With a brick wall the changes in weather from cold to hot and hot to cold cause it to expand thus it cracks. On the other hand a PVC fence is free from all these problems as is not attacked by termites it is waterproof and it does not crack due to material expansion.
